Getting down to your ideal weight can be difficult. From eating the right food to choosing the right exercise and everything in between. If you get one detail wrong, you may end up 5 kilos heavier. If the exercise is not right, you may get bulging biceps when what you really wanted were toned arms. This is where a personal trainer may make the difference. This is how personal training can help.

Accurate Fitness Evaluation. It is common to over or under estimate our physical abilities and end up with strained muscles and joints or a sub optimal exercise regime (which lengthens the time to reach our fitness goals). However, with a personal trainer, your physical fitness will be accurately evaluated and you can be quite sure that whatever fitness program you end up with, it is the ideal one for you.

Motivation. We also realise that it is easier to exercise with someone around and a personal trainer is just the right person to have on your side. Friends are not going to drive you as much where as a personal trainer will know exactly when he has to act as a tough general, a great source of encouragement and inspiration or simply as a friend to talk to and listen to you..

Customised Fitness Program. Contrary to popular opinion, there’s no such thing as an exercise or diet program that fits all. What may work for others may not work for you and what may take others weeks to achieve may mean one year’s worth of effort in your part. The solution is to consult people who have experience.

Safety. A lot of accidents can happen during unsupervised exercises so having a personal trainer will ensure that you are using equipment the right way. Not only does this prevent serious physical injuries, it ensures that you get the most out of your time exercising.

The Need for Change. Many people give up on exercising because they get bored. Sometimes, all that one needs is a little change in your exercise routine. Having a personal trainer beside you will enable you to experience different exercise programs, all geared towards keeping you active and interested in achieving your goals.

What to Look for in a Personal Trainer

So how do you pick the trainer that is right for you? There are only a limited number of education programs in the country and most are taught the same things. Ex sportsman can bring their competitive knowledge and motivation to their training but is that what you need for non competitive training? If you want to be different look for a trainer who is different. Judge them on 2 main features:

1.Personality. A great personal trainer is one who is dedicated to your fitness objectives. As such, he or she should be attentive to your needs, be a good listener and one who constantly keeps track of your progress or failures.

2.Experience. It builds one's trust and confidence if you know that your personal trainer has had vast experience, so be sure you know what they have done before. Also, keep in mind YOUR fitness targets. As a woman, if you want to change your shape, get a personal trainer who has a special interest in changing body shapes. Ask them what they once looked like and if they have "before and after" pictures of their clients. Anyone can body build, but as a woman you want style, not just substance.

If you want a personal trainer with experience and with great results with other clients, talk to us. We have access to some great trainers working out of Fitness First in Penrith that we recommend.

Remember, if you don't end up looking good after training they will look bad. They can't stand looking bad, so they won't give up on you. They will go that extra mile for you to succeed.
