Hair loss affects two out of every three men, and one in five women. The reasons for premature hair loss are many and varied. Some people begin to lose hair in their twenties. Frequent shampooing, poor circulation, wearing hats or any other personal habits are not factors that cause hair loss. For men, heredity is the major factor in hair loss. While for women it's more likely to be hormonal. Accidents, burns, and disease can also trigger hair loss.
At Enhance Clinic we have a range of treatments personalised to suit your hair loss. Laser and IPL Hair removal for men and women. The pyschological distress of excess body hair is only known to those that suffer. There are medical reasons for excess hair so a medical review is essential. We have treatments to remove unwanted hair on your face and body. For many men and women unwanted hair can be a nightmare. Getting rid of it can be painful. In recent years, the only choices we had for removing unwanted hair were smelly hair-removal creams, sharp razors, hot wax or painful electrolysis needles. At Enhance Clinic, we have a comprehensive range of treatment styles and devices that embrace the latest technology. Our surgeons and medical staff continue to adopt the most advanced technology.
We receive a lot of enquires regarding ways to treat concerns about problems with hair. Hair is an important part of our identity. Too much or not enough hair in the wrong place can cause distress.
Hair grows from hair follicles in the skin. The follicles grow through cycles: Anagen (the growing phase, for between 2-6 years, 90% of the hair, at any one time, is in this stage), Catagen (the slowing phase) and Telogen (the shedding phase, with the average loss of 100 hairs per day being normal). The hair in the follicle grows from both a bulb at the bottom of the follicle and the bulge in the top third of the follicle. So pulling out hairs may damage the bulb but the bulge will cause the hair to regrow. This is why waxing, though immediately effective and producing smoothing effects on the skin, will still require ongoing reapplication.
For a more permanent hair reduction, changes are required to the hair bulge. When the hair is in the Catagen or Telogen phase, the damage will not occur, this is why even electrolysis can have a 5-40% regrowth rate. Noting that it has less acceptance because of it's more significant pain problems. Impulsed Light Therapy works by imparting a gentle thermal change through the pigment in the hair shaft that causes changes to the bulb and the bulge. It has been shown to permanently reduce hair growth in scientific studies. But, considering the hair cycle it makes sense to have multiple treatments in order to obtain the 90% permanent reduction standard.
